Color Club Pardon My French... sort of...

I only have photos of TWO of the polishes from this set currently, I'm going to post them, and then update this post this weekend. :D Otherwise I'll forget.

Ok, how gorgeous is this? I freaking love it. If every single other color in this had been sucktastic, I still would have bought them to get this. Two coats of beautiful sky blue color. Actually, this is eerily close to the same color as Hard Candy Sky (which is an old school color) minus the blue flash.

So... this isn't really "natural". It's pretty though. Kind of a peachy creamsicle color with a bit more yellow. This did need several coats - I believe this was three and I felt it could have used another. Still, it came in this set, and I was surprised by how pretty it looked on the nail.

I'll be back to post the rest of my review later! Thanks for reading. :D

Color Club Rebel Debutant swatches

Ok, I don't own all of the collection, and haven't taken pics of ALL of the ones I do own, so this is just what I've swatched so far.

First off, these all have pretty great application. The only one that gave me issues so far was Ms. Socialite, and that could just be a fluke. :D They are all very creamy and opaque in two coats. I am loving these, and will definitely have to go get the ones that I'm missing. Ok, on to the pics!

This is a deliciously creamy light gray. It pulls slightly lavender on me and I adore it! This is two coats, probably could have done three, but I didn't feel it necessary.

So... every time I say/think this in my mind it turns into High Anxiety and I start to sing... even though this has NOTHING to do with that. Bizarre huh. Ok, onto the color review. Beautiful mushroomy taupe/mousey brown. This would be gorgeous on any skintone. It's neutral but kinda edgy. Love!

...This is the suck on me. I'm sure there are people this would be gorgeous on. My albino white skin? Not so much. It's a sort of rusty brown. Definitely brown though. Not red... not orange... brown. It does have red/orange tones to it. I dunno... perhaps I'll give it another try but for now... my final word is... yuck. (This had great application though!)

Perfection. A gorgeous bubble gum/barbie pink. This is two coats, and it's gorgeous. I am not a big pink wearer. On my toes sometimes, but not so much on my tips. I would wear this as a full mani, yes, it's that cute on. I makes me think of little girls and little girl toys and the perfect barbie that you just waited and waited to get. :D You probably need to go buy this.

This last one is a comparison that was requested. It is Zoya Demi vs CC Ms. Socialite. They are both gorgeous colors. Demi is a tiny bit darker and almost has more blue in it. If you were not an obsessive nail officianado you would probably not notice a difference in these, if they weren't side by side obviously. Onto the pics!

btw, I've got Demi on my index and ring Ms. Socialite on my middle and pinky.

Green Cupcakes?

Happy St Patty's Day! :D

I used a basic vanilla recipe and added leaf green gel food coloring. I also left out the lemon zest.

Makes about 12 cupcakes

Vanilla Cupcakes:
1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature
2/3 cup (130 grams) granulated white sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Zest of 1 large lemon (optional)
1 1/2 cups (195 grams) all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (60 ml) milk

Vanilla Cupcakes: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) and line 12 muffin cups with paper liners.

In the bowl of your electric mixer, or with a hand mixer
, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla extract and lemon zest.

In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

With the mixer on low speed, alternately add the flour mixture and milk, in three additions, beginning and ending with the flour. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Evenly fill the muffin cups with the batter and bake for about 18-20 minutes or until nicely browned and a toothpick inserted into a cupcake comes out clean. Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool. Once the cupcakes have completely cooled, frost with icing. If you want flat topped cupcakes then slice off the dome of each cupcake, with a sharp knife, before frosting. If you want to pipe the frosting, I like to use a large Wilton 1M star decorating tip.

For the Frosting: In an electric mixer, or with a hand mixer, cream the butter until smooth and well blended. Add the vanilla extract. With the mixer on low speed, gradually beat in the sugar. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add the milk and beat on high speed until frosting is light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes). Add a little more milk or sugar, if needed. Tint the frosting with desired food color (I use the paste food coloring that is available at cake decorating stores and party stores).

Makes about 12 cupcakes

Sally Hansen Trendy Creme

I love this color! I've had it in my collex for ages, and adore it. It is such a different color. Sort of sage green with brown and a bit of gray. This is what I wanted RBL No More War to be like only more green... instead on me NMW is a bit brown. Anyway... I love this, it's green, and has great application!

Barbeque Chicken

Truly one of the easiest recipes that I use on a regular basis. You can eat these as whole pieces, or shred them up for barbeque chicken sandwiches. I make extra and we have barbeque chicken sandwiches for lunch the next day, or day after.

Cook time 8 hours Yield 6 servings
Ingredients
6-10 Boneless skinless chicken breasts, frozen or thawed
2-3 bottles of your favorite barbeque sauce

In your crock pot put a layer of barbeque sauce, then layer chicken, sauce, chicken, sauce until you've got everything in. Cook on high 8 hours if frozen, low 8 hours if not. You can also cook this on high 4 hours if your chicken has been thawed before hand. If you want to puncture your chicken it is slightly less moist, but it absorbs more of the barbeque flavor. I also salt and pepper mine about half the time depending on my mood and how much I feel like doing. :D

Essence Check me Out

Last month my Ulta got the Essence line! Hoorah! This is a European brand, and it's completely fabulous. I love these little babies! They are a steal at .99 that's right folks, ninety nine cents! They have what is like a mini OPI pro-wide brush. I think the brush is great, of course I have giant nail beds... so... I might be biased. :D I will definitely be going back for more of these babies.

China Glaze Four Leaf Clover

This picture is a bit blue, and unfortunately what most of the pictures of this look like, I messed around with settings and different areas in my house/yard to get the most color accurate pics I could... my skin is obviously not bright yellow... but the polish is close. This is a true bright green.

Zuppa Toscana

Ok, recipe for the soup tonight is....

1 pkg Italian sausage ( I used hot , you can also make your own.)
3 or 4 Large russet potatoes quartered and thinly sliced
1 large onion, finely chopped... See More
4 or 5 cloves of garlic, minced ( I really like garlic )
1 bunch Kale chopped or torn into bite sized pieces ( you could use less if you wanted)
3/4 box of chicken broth or approx 2 cans
1 qt of water
approx 1 c of heavy cream
1/2 c to 1 c bacon cooked and chopped into small pieces
Salt and pepper

Cook sausage in a 300 degree over for about 30 min. Drain on paper towels to remove grease and cut into slices.

Place a tiny bit of olive oil in your pot, heat on low, sautee garlic and onion until softened. Add chicken broth, water, and potatoes. Cook until potatoes are done. Add the sausage and bacon to pot. Salt and pepper to taste. Bring up to a simmer, simmer about 10 minutes. Turn heat down to low, add kale and cream. Heat through and serve.

I reserved a bit of the bacon to sprinkle on top of the soup. :D
